DESCRIPTION:
APW - Hamilton, Grade 939, 17J, 18S, gold-filled HC recase with very attractive engraving detail, front with majestic standing buck scene and rear with mill scene, both scenes set against a mountainous backdrop, fancy white and light blue enamel SS dial with extensive foil decorations in two shades of gold, red glass inset above signature, SW-LS, ornate nickel damascene, s#9910. An attractive early high grade Hamilton, highlighted by a spectacular and nearly flawless early fancy dial. From the Estate of Henry Betjemann of Bradenton, Florida.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with few small micro-fine scratches, some surface dirtiness, regulator assembly with few small bits of oxide, mismatched case screws; nearly flawless dial with only a few minuscule pinpoint edge nicks under bezel; nearly mint hands; case shows light wear, dent to front adjacent buck's standing front leg, prominent ding to lower perimeter of front above hinge, few additional lesser dents and dings elsewhere, reduced engraving detail, spots of wear to brass to pendant, bezel is worn entirely to brass, inner surface of cuvette is worn nearly entirely to brass, case front and rear open somewhat wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 100 degrees and 105 degrees, respectively), case front with a bit of play at its hinge and also needing some assistance to release from latch when opening; bow pivots freely and very loose with substantial excess play within pendant sockets, crown shows medium wear with ridge break; good glass crystal.
